Boreal Forest Woes

Ok everyone. I am sure many of you already know about this topic, but it is so important that it warrants a mention here in our blog. The word is out once again that Kimberly-Clark, the paper giant and producer of Kleenex and Cottonelle, is wiping out (via their suppliers) the ancient Boreal Forest for such products as toilet paper and tissues. They have long withstood the position that they are not harvesting in ancient forests, but photos by Greenpeace recently surfaced showing otherwise.

You can check out the full story here. So what to do other than sending an email or letter to Kimberly-Clark expressing your outrage or disappointment? Well, an easy solution and one that we did a few years back is stop buying their product. You can do a quick search on the internet and find many substitute brands easily. We do not use tissues, but we of course use toilet paper and are happy with our CVS brand alternative: CVS/pharmacy Earth Essentials 100% recycled 12 rolls 1 ply toilet paper. The price is very reasonable and we feel good knowing it is not coming from virgin timber.

Thanks for caring all.
