Creating a Wetland

Remember all our wetland plants?  Well, now that we have Steve's mini-backhoe back from storage (Steve's parents) we are creating a home for them!  The operation is pretty cool...

The little backhoe attaches to Steve's 4-wheeler: all equipment acquired during his soil consulting days.

The space is getting fairly big now.  The intention for this wetland is a frog/salamander/toad/plant home...no fish since they will just eat all the amphibian eggs.

Steve ordered a liner that is kind to the animals we hope to attract and we will share more on that soon.

Until then, more digging.

  2. We don't have enough water to create a wetland right now! Dry, brittle and needing some of the cloud juice for sure. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

  3. HI Jennifer and Steve,
I considered doing that with the hornworms, but a bunch of places I searched said that then you end up with more the next year and can't control the population. Have you had good luck doing that? And yes, the drawing is mine :^), as are the two posts before that one. I have been doing more writing and drawing lately, trying to reignite my passions some. Thanks for the kudos! ~Vonnie
