Our Wetland Rocks (according to Gray Treefrogs)!

Remember this little gem of a wetland that we created?

Tonight we were tooling around the yard and noticed the calling of gray treefrogs near the wetland. On closer investigation we notice the calling was coming from the barn and then...

...found this little cutie on one of the downspouts!:

But the other call was louder, as if amplified...and it was! Check this out:

Yes, this dude must be studying sound engineering! He was about 8 inches back inside the downspout and, as you can see by his expanded throat, calling away:

What more can we say than "nature's wonders never cease to amaze!"

  1. Marvelous! I wish I could have heard the amplified call -- that must have been fun. To think of all the work you did on the place, how far it's come, what great habitat you've created for so many critters!

  3. That fellow looks very pleased with himself. Was the other one just above on the pipe? It's a romantic love story.

    1. The other one was above on the pipe a few feet away. They each claimed their own pipe probably trying to lure lovely ladies in. :)

  4. Ha! How cute is that?? I went camping this past week and a frog got into the shower house! There was a young girl in there about 10 yrs old I asked her if she was afraid of frogs, she said no, so she picked him up and set him outside...I had the dogs with me...so i was glad to find another set of helping hands!
