An added benefit of gardening...

By gardening without the use of herbicides or pesticides we provide ourselves with healthy food and we also provide food for other critters. We currently have two Black Swallowtail caterpillars feeding on our fennel. The female Black Swallowtail butterflies only lay a few eggs per plant so the caterpillars do not consume more than a little bit of the plant. The caterpillars provide us with lots of entertainment as we check them everyday.

Want some in your garden? Plant things like fennel, carrot, or parsley...things in the carrot family.
