A Winter Walk
A peaceful walk across a farm field...
and in some powdery snow...
led me to a woods with deer, woodland songbirds and even a bluebird or two.
Upon existing the west side of the woodland, I noticed some asters all covered in snow.
The trail amongst the prairie grasses invited a peaceful stroll...

the gray-headed coneflower offered its pleasing scent...
the palette of the prairie, wetland, and woods showcased muted tones...
the burrow of a mouse or vole revealed itself amongst the melting snow...
and the ephemeral wetland made me dream of frogs. It won't be too long now - wood frogs start calling here in February!
